Those of you that know me know that I'm not the kind of guitar builder that goes into paroxisms of pleasure at the thought of high figured woods. My main love is good old mahogany.

Well I have just opened a package from Bob of a set of his (now My!) Black Limba. I'm totally blown away by the wood, it feels and taps like the best mahogany and looks like pale Madagasan, and all for $75 I couldn't fill my car's petrol tank for that.

I was late in looking on Bob's site for the Black limba and all the sets were sold, but then I noticed a Page 2 button and lo more appeared, most gone but I found a set that I just had to have, in fact if I'd had the choice of all of the 2 pages I would still have chosen the set I did. Those of you that missed this wood should be very unhappy luthiers!

It was the first time I had dealt with Bob and have to say it won't be the last, what a great man to deal with.

Thanks Bob you're a real asset to this community.

Nothing on it to highlight the grain.

Here, here!! I got a set too, and it is beautiful. I was turned on to the visuals after getting a body blank from Larry Davis to build a neck-through bass with. In addition to how it looks, the wood is a pleasure to work, and I love the smell.

Somewhere a mahogany tree is sighing..... Well that is some super high praise from the mahogany man himself. And Bob, a class act all the way. The Zootman cometh! (and my wallet emptyeth)

I got a nice set of that too, not sure what to build with it but it sure is pretty. Bob is a great guy isn't he? Hey Colin, I'm currently building a mahogany L-1 that should be a real nice delta blues snapper.John How38883.3709606482

Yes Hesh I'm thinking a Euro topped OOO/12, with a nice cherry neck. It'll be about 4 down the road but the wood was too good to pass on, carpe diem!

Geez
I sold that gorgeous set for only $75? What in the world was I thinking?
On a serious note: I thank you Colin for the kind word and I'm very happy that you like the Black Limba.

Thanks Jeff and Jim too.

Matt the Black Limba is from Africa.

Hey, I got a set of that pretty stuff, too!
I missed the auction, and was crying on Bob's shoulder, when he said, "I've gote more...."

What a guy...what great wood!

Hope you all enjoy building with it. I'm enjoying just looking at it for now.

I won the auction...and still bought two more sets! Very beautiful wood indeed...now if I could only muster up the strength and time to build all these guitars...

Like Steve...I was lamenting the absence of Limba and Bob said, "But Bill, I have more..." And my pain, and moolah, went away.

"The Zootman cometh...and my wallet emptyeth." Is this the greatest quote or what? Hey Jeff, can I use this...that's just funny.

Bill,

The quote is all yours! We have all suffered at the hands of those that offer such zootalicious products. BobC being chief among them!

We love ya' Bob.
